The association warned that healthcare services across the district will be suspended if the government fails to take strict action.Also read- GMC Handwara: On-duty Surgeon assaulted, doctors’ associations condemn attackThe incident reportedly took place at Bachpan Neo & Child Hospital in Forbesganj, where the doctor alleged that the Deputy Collector slapped him without provocation during a routine inspection drive, as per a post on the social media platform ‘X’. It has been reported that the ADM has, however, filed a counter-complaint claiming that he was beaten and held hostage by hospital staff.The doctor has further alleged that the team entered his chamber without prior notice and used abusive language against him for not wearing an apron. As the argument intensified, he accused the Deputy Collector of slapping him.In a letter dated February 12, 2026, addressed to the Secretary of the Health Department, the Association demanded immediate suspension of the officer concerned and a fair inquiry into the matter. It warned that if strict action is not taken within the stipulated time, doctors across the district may suspend healthcare services in protest. “Such incidents seriously affect the morale, dignity, and safety of doctors in the state. They are creating an atmosphere of fear and anger among doctors. These incidents are also extremely harmful to the smooth functioning of the healthcare system.
