Ahmedabad: In a disturbing incident, a 64-year-old doctor was allegedly attacked while attending to an injured patient late at night at his residence in the Sardarnagar area of Ahmedabad, leaving him with a serious head injury that required 16 stitches.The incident occurred around 11:30 pm in the Samarth Nagar area of Sardarnagar. According to police, the doctor had received a call from a local resident reporting a head injury and urgently seeking medical help. As per the complaint filed by the doctor with the Airport police, the patient alleged that the man had verbally abused him, assaulted him with a plastic bucket, and threatened to kill him.The doctor reportedly tried to intervene and calm the situation, telling both men that as neighbours they should resolve the matter peacefully. The accused turned on him. “The accused abused me, stating, ‘Do whatever you want, but do not speak between us,” the doctor said in his complaint. “He then struck me on the left side of my head with a steel walking stick, causing severe bleeding. He also threatened to kill me,” the doctor told the police, reports TOI.
When bystanders attempted to intervene, the accused reportedly attacked them as well and threatened everyone present. A woman suffered injuries to both hands, while another person sustained minor injuries in the chaos.
Emergency services were called, and the injured, including the doctor, the original patient, and two others, were rushed to Civil Hospital. The doctor required 16 stitches for the head injury.
