Bengaluru: A 57-year-old doctor has filed a police complaint alleging that gold jewellery worth Rs 24 lakh went missing from her bank locker in Bengaluru’s RMV Extension.According to the complaint, the doctor holds a savings account and a locker at a nationalised bank branch in the area. Ahead of her son’s wedding, she had accessed the locker on February 27 to withdraw jewellery for the celebrations. Also Read:Fake Ayurvedic Doctor allegedly steals woman’s gold in PochampallyAfter the wedding functions, she revisited the bank on March 3 at around 11:15 a.m to redeposit part of the ornaments. She reportedly placed approximately 150 to 160 grams of gold jewellery, including a necklace, a gold chain, a pair of jhumkis, and two bangles, inside a transparent plastic box and secured it in the locker before leaving.However, during her next visit on March 12 to deposit the remaining ornaments, she discovered that the plastic box containing the jewellery was missing. As per the Deccan Herald, she informed senior officials at the bank, after which the manager checked the CCTV footage from March 3. The footage reportedly showed the customer entering the locker room carrying a jewellery box and a small brown bag, but returning with only the brown bag in her hand.
Unsatisfied with the bank’s response, the doctor approached the Sadashivanagar Police and filed a formal complaint, seeking action against the bank staff and clarity on the missing valuables. Police officials have initiated an investigation and have asked the bank to provide complete CCTV footage for verification.
