Khagaria: While Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) allege that their stipend has been pending for the past two months, the Shyamlal Chandrashekhar Medical College and Shaheed Prabhu Narayan Multi-Speciality Hospital in Khagaria, recently suspended the Compulsory Rotatory Medical Internship (CRMI) programme for FMG interns with immediate effect. In an official notice dated March 8, 2026, the medical college stated that the decision was taken due to administrative and financial constraints.According to the notice, the CRMI programme for FMG interns has been halted until further notice. The administration also cited violent agitation by FMG interns as another reason behind the decision.Following the suspension, the college administration has directed all FMG interns not to report for duty in any department of the college or hospital until further notice.Further, the notice stated that FMG interns are barred from entering the campus of the college and hospital with immediate effect until fresh directions are issued by the competent authority.”All concerned are directed to comply strictly with this notice,” the order stated. The decision has created uncertainty for FMG interns currently undergoing the internship at the institution, as the programme remains suspended until further instructions from the authorities. The interns had been protesting over the pending stipend and had even written to the Secretary of Health regarding the issue. However, the institute has now announced the suspension of its internships.Reacting to the matter, the All FMG Association (AFA) stated that FMGs of Shyamlal Chandrashekhar Medical College & Shaheed Prabhu Narayan Multi-Speciality Hospital (SLCMC & SPNMH), Khagaria, Bihar, have not received their stipend for the past two months, while stipends are being paid in all other medical colleges across Bihar.”Despite raising their voice and even writing to the Secretary of Health, instead of resolving the issue, the college authorities have now suspended their internships and barred them from entering the campus,” said the association. They questioned that when the stipend is already permitted by the Government of Bihar and upheld by the Supreme Court, why is this medical college denying it?
As a result, the association urged the government to take immediate action against the college authorities and ensure justice for FMGs who are being unfairly targeted.FMGs of Shyamlal Chandrashekhar Medical College & Shaheed Prabhu Narayan Multi-Specialty Hospital (SLCMC & SPNMH), Khagaria, Bihar have not received their stipend for the past two months, while stipends are being paid in all other medical colleges across Bihar.Despite raising… pic.twitter.com/AiZpxOZXDy— ALL FMGs ASSOCIATION(AFA) (@official_afa_) March 8, 2026 Also read- NMC clarifies on mandatory physical compensation classes for online MBBS study by FMGs, warns of regulatory violation
