Udhagamandalam: In a disturbing incident in Ooty, a medical college student was allegedly sexually assaulted by a government doctor, who reportedly promised to help her pass her examinations. The accused was arrested by the Ooty all-women police team on Monday. According to the news reports, the accused, who was working in the emergency ward of the Nilgiris Government Medical College and Hospital, allegedly approached the student, claiming he could use his influence with university authorities to secure passing marks. He is also accused of recording the act on his mobile phone.The incident came to light after a heated argument between the doctor and the medical student in the hotel room drew the attention of hotel staff. Alerted by the commotion, they intervened and informed the police, who promptly arrived at the scene and arrested the doctor. Preliminary investigations have confirmed the allegation of rape.During inquiries, police found that the doctor had been married twice, though neither of his wives was living with him. A case has been registered against him.
