Tamil Nadu- The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DME), Tamil Nadu, has commenced the Round-1 counselling process for admission to Super Speciality (DM and MCh) courses in Government Medical Colleges of Tamil Nadu for the 2025 academic sessionAccording to the Tentative counselling schedule issued by the Selection Committee in this regard, the online registration, payment, choice filling, and locking process will commence on March 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM and conclude on March 21, 2026, at 5:00 PM. Candidates participating by online counselling for higher speciality (DM/MCH)course will have to remit a non-refundable amount of Rs 1,000/- as processing fee through online by using a Debit Card /Net Banking or Credit Card.Candidates while downloading their provisional allotment order should pay the non-refundable Tuition Fee via Debit Card /Net Banking or Credit Card. The Tuition Fee paid at the time of downloading provisional allotment order is non-refundable if the candidate does not join or discontinues the course. The selected candidates have to pay any balance of the Tuition Fee (if any) and other special fees etc., at the time of admission in their respective colleges. Candidates should pay the tuition fee and then download their provisional allotment order and join the course in the concerned Medical College on or before the date and time stipulated as mentioned in the allotment order during the first phase of online counseling.Allotted in-service candidates who discontinue the course after the last date of joining should pay the Discontinuation Fees besides foregoing tuition fees already paid by them, to the Deans of the respective Colleges, the sum as specified below in total by means of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai – 10”, payable at Chennai.Discontinuation Fees of Rs 20,00,000/- to be paid by the candidates who discontinues the course after the end of counselling as per notification by Selection Committee/ NBEMS. Unless the discontinuation fee as penalty amount is paid in total, the candidates will not be relieved and original certificates submitted by the candidates at the time of admission will be retained by the concerned institutions. Of these, a 106 seats are vacant in DM courses and 109 seats are vacant in MCh courses.The vacancy list, provides a course-wise and college-wise breakup of available seats across premier institutions. Among all super speciality courses, DM Neurology has the highest number of vacancies with 31 seats distributed across multiple government medical colleges. The vacancy list also includes several other DM programmes. Vacancies have also been reported across multiple MCh programmes. These seats are spread across leading government institutions in Tamil Nadu, with Madras Medical College accounting for a significant share across most super speciality courses.The vacancies are distributed across major government medical colleges in Chennai and other districts.
