Trichy: The death of a 27-year-old pregnant woman at Thiruthuraipoondi Government Hospital has sparked protests by her family, with allegations that her death resulted from the absence of doctors at the time of admission.The deceased, a 27-year-old woman who was two months pregnant and married to a construction worker, reportedly complained of severe pain on Wednesday evening, prompting her husband and family members to rush her to Thiruthuraipoondi Government Hospital.Also Read:40-year-old dies after Quack allegedly gives him wrong injectionAccording to her relatives, no doctor was available when she arrived, and only nurses attended to her until a doctor reached the hospital. Soon after, the attending doctor informed the family that the woman had passed away.Shocked by her sudden death, her family staged a sit-in protest inside the hospital premises. Police intervened, assuring them that action would be taken, and the woman’s body was sent to Tiruvarur Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
On Thursday, her relatives protested again in front of the Tiruvarur district collectorate and demanded suitable compensation for the family and a government job. They submitted a petition at the collectorate in this regard, reports TOI.
