Mangaluru: Dr. K. Sudhakar Shetty, a pioneering psychiatrist, passed away on Saturday at the age of 93 due to age-related illness. He laid the foundation for the Department of Psychiatry at Father Muller’s Hospital, Mangaluru, and dedicated 52 years of service to the institution. Born on April 16, 1933, Dr. Shetty earned his MD in Psychiatry from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, an achievement that placed him among the earliest formally trained psychiatrists in the country.
