Gurgaon: Three hospital employees were arrested on Wednesday in connection with a Rs 1 crore fake insurance claim scam at Galaxy One Hospital in Nihal Colony, New Palam Vihar, police said. Nearly 60 suspected fraudulent insurance claim files linked to around 25 firms were also recovered during the raid. ACP (West) Abhilaksh Joshi stated that the fraud uncovered so far amounts to approximately Rs 1 crore. Among the arrested employees, two are residents of Gurgaon, and another one is from Rajasthan. Police claimed that the trio was involved in preparing and facilitating fake insurance claims.Also Read:FAKE Insurance Claims at PGI Rohtak: 16 cancer patients shown as accident victims”The fraud was committed with both govt and private insurance companies — 60% of their insurance claims were cleared,” ACP (Joshi said. According to the investigations, the hospital admitted individuals to its inpatient department on paper only, without any actual medical treatment taking place, reports TOI.During the raid, a joint team comprising a civil hospital doctor, a cyber expert, and a drug control officer recovered around 60 fake insurance claim files.Speaking to The Indian Express, police said, “Authorities recovered approximately 60 fake insurance claim files linked to nearly 25 insurance companies. Investigations revealed that fake IPD admissions records were shown. Fake medical records, laboratory reports, pharmacy bills, and treatment bills were prepared in collusion with fake beneficiaries, who, along with the hospital staff, shared the proceeds from the fraudulent claims.”
The case came to light after the Chief Minister’s flying squad (Mukhyamantri Udan Daste) filed a complaint on February 14 at Bajghera police station, leading to the registration of an FIR under Sections 318(4) (cheating), 336(3) (forgery), 338 (forgery of valuable securities), and 340 (using a forged document or electronic record as genuine) of the Indian Penal Code.
A separate search at Labsvel, a shop in Dayanand Colony, led to the recovery of additional fake lab reports and documents used in the scam.Also Read:2 Talegaon doctors arrested for Rs 22 Lakh insurance scamThe hospital had been under scrutiny since May last year, when the CM’s flying squad discovered a doctor using MBBS/MD credentials without holding the actual degrees. Further investigation revealed that IPD register entries were manipulated to process false insurance claims.
