Belagavi: Acting on a tip-off, the Malamaruti police raided the residence of a paediatrician in Belagavi city and allegedly recovered 134 grams of marijuana, raising serious concerns about professional ethics and public trust. The doctor has been arrested in connection with the case.According to the news reports, the raid was conducted at the house of the doctor, located in Shivabasava Nagar. During the search, police reportedly found ganja in the bedroom of the house. The accused is a doctor by profession. Where did he get this from? Was it for sale? Or was it for consumption? The doctor was found in possession of 65 grams of ganja and has been remanded to judicial custody following his arrest. According to the police, he turned to the illegal drug trade driven by greed for quick money, abandoning the ethical values of his medical profession. For the past few months, he had reportedly been procuring ganja through an agent and distributing it among known contacts.
